About

A sommelier and a regular guy walk into a bar. The sommelier asks the bartender for his best wine. The bartender pours two glasses.  The sommelier  looks at the wine against the light, swirls the wine, looks again, closes his eyes and takes a long whiff, swirls, smells, tastes and says “this wine has soft tannins and aromas of juicy, black cherries, plums, chocolate and flowers. On the palate, I detect tobacco and other earthy characteristics. Undoubtedly, it’s a right bank Bordeaux of Saint-Émilion. 2004 vintage.”  The regular guy looks at the wine against the light, swirls the wine, looks again, closes his eyes and takes a long whiff, swirls, smells, tastes and says “Yes.  It’s wine, it’s red. I like it”

At Wine Pivot we believe that wine can be enjoyed, without much fuss, by someone without an unpronounceable French title or the nose of a bloodhound. We welcome the regular person wanting to enjoy a less intimidating experience with wine.  We celebrate normal people who believe that wine is just another way to build memories and share moments. We call them “norm-meliers”.
